John D. Kuczer, 60, a longtime resident of Milford, died Thurs., May 5, in the Milford Regional Medical Center, Milford.

He was born in Milford, son of Norma M. (DeSantis) Kuczer of Milford and the late John I. Kuczer. He graduated from the former St. Mary’s High School, the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and the Gemological Institute of America in California. He had also served in the National Guard.

Mr. Kuczer was a certified gemologist at Reliable Jewelers in Milford and previously worked for Shreve, Crump and Low in Boston. He enjoyed fishing.

Besides his mother, he leaves a sister, Robin M. and her husband, Tony Costa, of Uxbridge; a niece, Kyla; and a nephew, Tony Jr.

Funeral services will be held Tues., May 10, at 9 a.m. from the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St., followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 10 a.m. in the lower chapel of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 7 East Main St. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Mon., May 9, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Center, Milford Regional Medical Center, c/o Dev.
