This past Saturday the Girl Scouts of Milford gathered at River Bend Farm in Uxbridge for their first Rubber Duck River Race. The Rubber Duck River Race was the Annual Giving Campaign fundraiser; all of the proceeds will go to the Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts. The Girl Scouts were responsible for getting each Duck adopted. The first 20 ducks to cross the finish line won a prize for their adoptive parent.
The event started with a Family Fair. Each Girl Scout troop thought of silly and fun things to do for their booths. The booths ranged from dancing and hippity hop races to duck themed crafts and games. Following the Family Fair, 2000 adopted Rubber Ducks raced down the Blackstone Valley River to the finish line a half mile away. Adults in kayaks and canoes kept the ducks moving to the finish line. Following the race, volunteers helped extract the ducks from the river.
Everyone who attended the Girl Scout Rubber Duck River Race and Family Fair had a Quacktacular good time and are looking forward to the event next year.
